Debbie Pearson
Keynote speaker for the Emphraim M. Daggett Fort Worth Chapter
Of the Sons of the Republic of Texas,
Saturday, December 4, 2010
Her topic is the ÒGaines-Oliphant HouseÓ in
Texas, owned by a
DRT Chapter with a marvelous history in the
Republic of Texas era
Debbie was born and raised in Forth Worth and graduated from
Arlington Heights High School before earning a bachelorÕs degree from
Stephen F. Austin State University and a masterÕs degree from TCU. She has
taught kindergarten for the FWISD for 35 years and lives in
the Ridglea Hills South community.
Debbie is currently President of the Fort Worth Genealogical
Society. She credits her interest in history and genealogy to her family,
who always included historical stops to sites and
museums on their family vacations and told family stories at reunions. Out of
her genealogical research, she discovered that some of her ancestors qualified
her for entry into many of the patriotic or lineal societies, and the lineal
and patriotic societies furthered her knowledge of history. Debbie has
been a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas for 19 years and also holds
memberships and offices in United Daughters of the Confederacy and National
Society Daughters of 1812.
Currently, her career as schoolteacher takes up most of her time. But upon retirement, she hopes to get back to her own genealogy research. DebbieÕs other hobbies and interests include dancing and reading.
